| Comments: | Hi everyone, Well, I moved from Ohio, joined the Navy in 1981, they moved me to San Diego, Ca. where I stayed in Navy 4 years at Top Gun,(got to see Tom Cruise when they made the movie at my work), Top Gun is really called Navy Fighter Weapons School, and it truly is the elite, everyone from the enlisted to the pilots are the best! You worked hard played hard too! Loved it all! did 4 years in the Navy, moved to the civilian side of the house with w/Northrop at Top Gun and stayed in San Diego another 3 1/2 years. San Diego is a really beautiful place and so much to do, so many things to see and so many beaches and just endless things to get into!!! Moved w/ F-5 aircraft to Fallon, Nv. Still working on airplane engines, flight controls, hydraulics, fuel cells and other areas, was a senior of my shops.... Over those approximate 10 years I got to travel to several remote places in deserts in California (via the Navy & civilian sector), some with security clearances etc... So it was remote, and then several times to Key West... that was fun and wild. Loved living out of a suitcase and on the road. I transferred to an air force base in Mississippi. I worked on site since 1987; I worked at that airbase for 18 years, worked my way up to Senior Quality Control Specialist inspecting 3 different types of aircraft, and all shops, and phase inspections of aircraft. I became qualified to debrief pilots when they came back from their missions to log their flying time, and to notify shops if we had discrepancies with an aircraft, very challenging, to keep track of engine specs, flight controls, hydraulics of 3 different aircrafts, I kept everything flowing with high tempo work atmosphere, always something going on...., and plus to deal with lieutenants to generals, all were wonderful to work with, love the role I played, and was good at it. Received several awards throughout my career, even "woman of the year" (1st one on this base, so I was pretty humble about that and felt it was a privilege) I loved to be professional in my jobs, and I worked in knowing it well. The only thing I missed out on in this type of occupation was I didn't get to wear dresses (lol) I had to always wear a uniform of some sort & steel toed shoes!!!... lol, sooooo I die when I were high heels to church now!!!! haha I'm a single parent now, so it's the kids and I. My two youngest kids live with me, Jacob 14 and Sarah 13. My oldest son Jason 30, lives in Oregon, he works computer stuff, but is presently trying to get back into school. I¿m so proud to be a mother of 3!~ Our town is fairly small here; great to have kids grow up in! I'm a soccer mom, and love it! My daughter made the jr. varsity, and Jacob, works at soccer refereeing. God seems to have other plans for me, other than what I expected... I stay at home piddle in my yard, run after the kids, which I wouldn't trade for the world..... I still love adventure and would NEVER pass UP an opportunity to go anywhere! My children & I go to an awesome church and am very involved...we have lots of fun. I did my first mission trip in Mississippi, this past summer w/my daughter had a wonderful time, went to several halfway homes, special needs children, several daycares, and nursing homes for the elderly all around the outskirts... I would love to go overseas, I wouldn't pass that up in a heartbeat, but I also think it’s pretty important to look close to home, so to speak.... I was beaming with humbleness just for being able to serve, make a difference, and to bring a smile to those we saw/helped. I haven't been to Ohio in forever, and I Dearly miss it! I keep in touch with my younger sister; Veronika and my dad, they still live in the Akron area, so she keeps me up to speed on the progress around the place. I plan to come for a visit sometime in ¿09. Can’t wait!~ I feel so Blessed, I live every day the best I can ... am thankful for what I have, where I've been and can't wait to see where I'll go next! |
